From Florianopolis: drive south the BR 101 highway 70 km (25 miles aprox) to Garopaba/Imbituba area ( it is really good signed) and from there you are done!, just look for "Praia da Ibiraquera". It's recomended to stay at the beach, you will find all the acomodations needed.

long white sandy beach perfect to launch and landing your kite.
waves: perfect from 3 feet to 14 feet!! ( 1mtr to 4mtrs) but you will usually sail with 6 feet waves (2mtrs). the first 150/200mtrs are really flat perfect for freestyle specially betwen the sea and the laggon. no obstacles!!!!
You have 150mtrs to freestyle and then pure wave sailing. you also have a laggon that its perfect for freestyle, you can be sailing at the sea, and then pass to the laggon, cause its conected just like a rivermouth.
Also great for Surfing and a lot of options like horse ridding, and excursions like going to water falls(jump from a 36 feet / 11mtrs fall)and a lot of party.
re: beach close
during may and june its fishing seasson and the beach is closed for surfing unless there are big waves or some wind.
May and june is low seasson for wind.

Beach closed?
At http://www.kite.com.br/picos.shtml I found this Information about Ibiraquera: "Informe-se antes de viajar, pois quando está na época da pesca da tainha as praias e Lagoa ficam interditadas." At which time of the year do they close the beach? What about Aug. and Sept. I would be happy if someone could answer my question.
